I didn’t think it mattered much either until my dryer started taking forever to dry clothes. Turned out the vent was packed with lint, which can actually be a fire risk. After getting it cleaned I used Carpet heroes: https://carpetheroes.uk/ the dryer worked way better and felt safer too. Definitely worth doing once in a while.
