Import PST File to Gmail for Large Mailboxes

I had a 7GB archive and needed to import PST File to Gmail safely. Since the mailbox contained old client conversations and attachments, I wanted a reliable migration process.

Initially, I followed the manual IMAP method.

Manual process included:

Configuring Gmail IMAP
Connecting Gmail in Outlook
Importing PST into Outlook
Syncing folders manually

It worked for smaller folders, but large folders caused major problems.

Issues during manual migration:

Outlook became very slow
Sync stopped midway multiple times
Missing attachments in some emails
High system resource usage

Later, I tested the DRS Softech PST File Converter, and the migration experience improved a lot.

Imported large PST files smoothly
Preserved email formatting
Maintained original hierarchy
Allowed selective folder migration
Faster than Outlook syncing

I especially liked the preview option because it helped verify mailbox data before migration. If anyone is migrating oversized PST files, I’d strongly recommend using an automated method instead of relying completely on IMAP syncing.
